AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY TRAINING ALERT –
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT AUTOMOTIVE APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING FOR APPRENTICES AND EMPLOYERS
Vancouver, British Columbia, July 5, 2007. The Automotive Training Standards Organization has been established by the Industry Training Authority as the automotive industry’s training organization.
In response to the automotive industry’s demands and requirements, Automotive Training Standards Organization has four main functions:
- To establish, administer and promote automotive industry trades training;
- To develop and oversee the education, certification and testing of participants in automotive industry trades;
- To advise and represent individuals and businesses with respect to automotive industry trades training;
- To liaise with, and make recommendations to, government and regulatory authorities with respect to automotive industry trades training issues.
Automotive Training Standards Organization’s role and responsibilities include:
- Identifying current and future skills and training needs;
- Designing and developing training programs and strategies;
- Establishing occupational and program standards;
- Designing challenge exams in cooperation with training providers;
- Developing an annual training plan;
- Marketing/promoting programs to employers
The Organization’s interaction with Industry is mainly through industry forums, which are announced on the Organization’s website, www.autoapprentice.com, through other automotive organizations, and through individual contact.
