Chair - Glenn Vollhoffer, Ford Canada

Glenn Vollhoffer is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Automotive Training Standards Organization and the first individual to hold that position. He is currently the Service Operations Manager for the Pacific District of the Ford Motor Company of Canada. He has over 34 years in the automotive field beginning as a Red Seal Service Technician. Mr. Vollhoffer's involvement in the industry has encompassed everything from executive positions with the Automotive Sector Council to overseeing the Ford/BCIT skills competition each year, from operating a shop business to consulting with shop owners. Mr. Vollhoffer's personal goal with regard to the Automotive Training Standards Organization is to see it fulfill its vision that the B.C. automotive industry is assured of the training required to provide the most competent and productive workforce in Canada.

Vice-Chair - Sean Thompson, Honda Canada

Sean Thompson is the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Automotive Training Standards Organization, and is the first individual in that position. Mr. Thompson has been involved in the automotive industry for over 15 years. He is currently the Western Zone Business Development Manager for Honda Canada Inc. Mr. Thompson has maintained an active involvement in all levels of automotive training through his support of the Acura Honda Apprentice Program at BCIT, and he brings a strong commitment to excellence in automotive trades training to the Automotive Training Standards Organization's Board of Directors.

Bob Wilson, Kirmac Collision

Bob Wilson has been involved in the automotive industry for over 40 years, starting out as a licensed collision repair and refinish technician, and later as a shop owner/operator. Mr. Wilson was employed by ICBC for 20 years and was a key player in the establishment and operation of ICBC Material Damage Research & Training Centre. Mr. Wilson was also a founding member of I-CAR/CART training organization in Canada and is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He has long been a keen adherent of industry training, contributing through post-secondary institutions' Program Advisory Committees and apprenticeship development. He is currently working as a consultant to the Kirmac organization. Mr. Wilson's vast automotive industry experience provides valuable insight to the various issues addressed by the Automotive Training Standards Organization's Board of Directors.

Curtis Edwards, Jim Pattison Toyota

Curtis Edwards has over 27 years of experience in the automotive industry. He is currently the Fixed Operations Manager for Jim Pattison Toyota - Surrey. Mr. Edwards has worked in various capacities for both independent retail shops and for several automotive manufacturers. He has been providing valuable insight to the Board of Directors for the Automotive Training Standards Organization since its inception in 2005. Mr. Edwards is committed to the vision of well-trained apprentices and journeymen, both current and future, working within and contributing to, a strong and stable automotive industry.

Glen Ringdal, New Car Dealers Association

Glen Ringdal became President and CEO of the New Car Dealers Association of BC in 2001 and, as such, has actively represented the industry to government, media and the public. Mr. Ringdal has been the leader of the industry's Recruitment, Training and Retention strategies aimed at addressing the shortage of trained professionals in sales, service and repair. Although Mr. Ringdal is well known in BC as a result of his previous work in professional sports, he has demonstrated his whole-hearted commitment to the automotive industry through his participation in the Automotive Trade Associations Executives and the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association/ Provincial Association Executives. Mr. Ringdal brought his varied business experience to the Board of Directors of the Automotive Training Standards Organization at its inception in 2005.

Judy Jobse, Richport Ford

Judy Jobse has over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry in various capacities. She is currently Service Manager for Richport Ford Lincoln. Ms. Jobse has a particular interest in human resources and has been involved in the Ford Asset Program which is devoted to encouraging young people to become involved in automotive industry trades. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the Automotive Training Standards Organization, and is the Chair of the Human Resources Sub-Committee. Ms. Jobse is committed to helping build a strong work force capable of fulfilling automotive industry requirements for the future. Ms. Jobse joined the Board of the Automotive Training Standards Organization in January 2007.

Robert Clarke, Automotive Industry Consultant

Bob Clarke has over 40 years experience in the automotive industry, beginning with gold seal certification as a service technician, and progressing to owner/operator of his own service station in Nanaimo. Later he was Western Zone manager for Volkswagen Canada where he not only oversaw service operations, but was also responsible for all service training for the four Western provinces. As President of Subaru Auto Canada Ltd., he established the Canada-wide distribution of Subaru vehicles. Mr. Clarke has been an active member and strong supporter of industry training through his involvement with PACs, apprenticeship establishment and the Automotive Sector Council. Mr. Clarke was Executive Director of the Automotive Retailers Association for 14 years, and is presently a Consultant to the automotive industry. He brings to the Board of the Automotive Training Standards Organization invaluable experience and a commitment to see automotive training in British Columbia continue to lead the rest of Canada.

Rob Lang, Richmond Motorworks

Rob Lang brings to the Board of Directors over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry. He is currently the proprietor of Richmond Motorworks. Not only is Mr. Lang a Red Seal technician, but he has lent his expertise to help update the Red Seal question bank, and has supported automotive apprenticeship through his membership on the Trades Advisory Committee for the labour board. He again offered his expertise to an Advisory Committee working on a new model for apprenticeship training. He was active in the movement for compulsory certification of automotive service and collision technicians and shops. Mr. Lang has been a long-time member of the ARA, and currently sits on its Board. Through his experience and involvement in automotive training, Mr. Lang is able to provide a valuable perspective to the Board of the Automotive Training Standards Organization.

Lloyd Stamm, CEO, Automotive Training Standards Organization

Lloyd Stamm is Chief Executive Officer of the Automotive Training Standards Organization. He has been involved in the automotive industry for over 30 years. Mr. Stamm, a Red Seal technician, has been active in the Automotive Sector Council, on various automotive program advisory committees at both the secondary and post secondary school levels, and with Skills BC of which he is currently President. Before joining the Automotive Training Standards Organization, Mr. Stamm worked for seven years in various capacities with the ARA, and through that association was able to provide his expertise to the evolution of an alternative model for automotive apprenticeship training. Mr. Stamm's commitment to ensuring a strong automotive service industry in general, and to apprenticeship training in particular, has been instrumental in the establishment of the Automotive Training Standards Organization.

Jim Perkins, Metro Vancouver

Jim Perkins joined the Board of Directors of the Automotive Training Standards Organization during its first year, lending his expertise in such areas as finance, strategic planning, and human resources management. Mr. Perkins has experience in aircraft maintenance, has owned and operated an automotive-related business, and has honed his business analysis and project management skills in fleet management for a government body. Mr. Perkins has been active in the Automotive Sector Council, and has demonstrated a keen interest in participating in automotive program development projects. He is currently the Chair of two Committees of the Board - Finance Committee and the Service Plan Committee.
