ACE IT
What is an Accelerated Credit Enrolment (ACE IT) Program?
ACE IT is an industry training program for high school students - in this case for the automotive trades. This program enables students to take automotive trades courses that will give them credit towards high school graduation, as well as towards an apprenticeship.
These courses are offered through partnerships between high school districts and post-secondary institutions, and with the cooperation and support of local employers offering work experience placements. The courses are sometimes taught at a post-secondary institution. It should be noted that due to the support of employers, students who have completed an ACE IT program can generally find employment quickly.
Credit is given for the first year of apprenticeship technical training and, through the work experience placements, may also include some credit towards the work-based component (hours of on-the-job experience).
The Automotive ACE IT Program provides students with an opportunity to graduate from high school with solid start on an apprenticeship training, as well as having acquired practical skills that make them more readily employable.
