What is the Automotive Training Standards Organization?
Under the terms of the British Columbia Industry Training Authority Act (ITAA), the Industry Training Authority (ITA) has been given the ability to delegate a range of functions to enable industry to play a lead role in developing trades training programs.
The implementation of a new demand-driven training model based on the British Columbia ITO structure will enable industry to take greater ownership and management responsibility for industry training.
The Automotive Training Standards Organization (the Organization) is sanctioned by the ITA under the Industry Training Authority Act as the Industry Training Organization (ITO) for the automotive industry in British Columbia.

That the British Columbia automotive industry is assured of the training required to provide the most competent and productive workforce in Canada.
Mission
To support the British Columbia automotive industry with the training and credentialing that effectively matches the supply of appropriately skilled workers with industry needs.
Our Responsibilities (as they relate to the ITA mandate and the ITAA)
- Identify current and future skills and training needs
- Design and develop training programs and strategies
- Establish occupational and program standards
- Design challenge exams in cooperation with training providers
- Develop an annual training plan
- Market/promote programs to employers
